It’s a place where they both love to frequently visit and could totally understand why…. walking around it felt so serene amongst the tall trees …. definitely not like we were still in the city. A super chill session …. I was loving their choice of outfits and Kari’s arm ink was just so awesome. I LOVE tattoos and it was extra cool that her tattoos and striking eyes matched up with so much of the greens. One of my favourite moments was when Kari busted out some hearts she had cut from construction paper. We did a standard pose, then something a lil’ artsy and then upon asking to just do something random she smushed it into Bryce’s face …. super funny and a mega cute shot. Such a great evening with another stellar couple :)

We met up in Kensington …. and area of Calgary that the couple loves to visit. My buddy Janine of Janine Sept Photography tagged along to help out …. I wanted her to meet them since she’ll be joining us in Vegas at the end of the month for the wedding….. yup I said VEGAS!! I am completely floored to be shooting their wedding in a city where I am completely overloaded with photo inspiration. Georgette and Andrew are actually photographers as well …. I know it can be extra awkward to be in front of the camera when you’re used to being on the other side but these two did so great. They looked so adorable joking and laughing together and Janine and I had a ton of fun with them. Extra awesomeness occurred when they busted out there pink and blue holga and diana cameras…. perfect props for these two shutterbugs and they’ll be bringing more to vegas. Towards the end of the shoot we headed over to the record shop on 14th street and Gerogette busted out a little model attitude …. she looked completely stunning and those are some of my favourite shots of the day.

I really admire Sofia’s work and it was a blast shooting with her…. definitely some funny moments shared that evening. We went out to an abandoned Gas Station that could not have been more perfect ….. all the colours went perfectly with Taylor’s beautiful red hair and the gown she was wearing from Laura George. I love vivid colours …. so much fun to work with.  I brought out some old coke bottles to play around with which resulted in one of my favourite shots of the day. Such an awesome way to spend a Sunday. Thanks again Sofia and of course to Taylor for being such a treat to work with :)

Flora and Denny’s engagement session was shot at Fish creek park amongst the beautiful tall pines. The scene was styled by the ridiculous talented and crafty Evelyn Clark of Sweet Stylings ….her fresh and colourful style was perfect for what I had envisioned for this shoot. I could not get over how freaking adorable Flora and Denny looked cuddling in the hammock together….  and wowza…. Flora looked stunning with her make up done by the uber talented Cassandra of Vicked Beauty. I must say I really love working with a team to create something amazing like this ….. having Evelyn make sure all the details looked perfect and Cassandra jumping in to touch up Flora’s lip gloss or fix her hair was just wonderful….  especially  sharing the memories of the gong show that went on during the hammock set up! lol ;) Flora and Denny are such an incredible couple …. and SO FUN to work with ….. their wedding is just around the corner and I can’t wait.

I didn’t have to think to hard on that one! lol …. I love these girls and what they do…. they are both so crazy talented. The models that were asked to participate were going to bring their grad dresses but at the last minute I go ahold of Adriana and Lorena of Novia Mia and thankfully they let me pretty much take whatever I wanted so we had these gorgeous bridal gowns to work with. I don’t think I’ve ever been so high strung trying to keep these dresses clean while still using a not so clean location. But it all went smoothly ….. the girls didn’t freeze, the dresses were kept intact and I got some fantastic shots for Carena and Cassandra. We finished up by Carena slipping into this ultra cute short feathered dress and did some sunset shots on the dock.  Such a great day …. Big thanks to our lovely models ….. Sasha. Alyssa, Jenna & Marie and of course to Novia Mia for trusting me with their gowns ;)

This day was also extra special since I had one of my 2011 brides as my assistant for the day. Kristin is now building her own wedding photography business and I was completely floored and honoured that she looked towards me for advice and to gain a little bit of experience second shooting.

Jill and Alex are one of the most adorable couples ever …. they’re so playful and cute you just can’t help but smile so big when seeing them together. After the ceremony it was so fun going out for photos with the two of them and their two best friends as the bridal party. Although the sun was shining it was still pretty chilly but the girls did so good…. I am always so proud of brides and bridesmaids that will withstand the cold to get the outdoor shots. Also love when couples are into getting a little goofy …. they both had a pair of bright blue and pink shades that they brought along and made for some really fun shots. This wedding was just so full of love and emotion between these two families and all their friends …. the whole day just felt like one big warm hug. Jill and Alex thank you so much for having me as your wedding photographer ….Kristin and I had a ton of fun with you guys and could not stop raving about how the day just flowed so perfectly :)

She had a big part in the creation of this dress so of course it’s extra special to her. This opportunity was perfect too since she was married in January and it was a tad cold that day …. cold weather makes it a bit tricky to relax in photos when you’re freezing your butt off lol. Kim requested trees so we hit up Edworthy park and found a couple great spots…. she also brought along her beautiful broche bouquet which she had made herself. Love how these photos turned out and the vintage vibe they give off …. I would love for it to be mandatory for all my brides to go out for a second round of photos in their dresses ;)

She suggested using her house which ended up being absolutely incredible ….. I could have shot in there all day especially with this super cool glass wall. Like most people …. Marla was a little nervous being in front of the camera but within minutes she was workin’ it like a pro…. showing off her fabulous smile and flipping around her gorgeous hair. An absolutely beautiful woman with such a cool personality …. it was such a treat to do these photos for her :)

We had to rebook a few times due to crummy weather so we were all happy to catch a nice day with some sunshine. We hit up a school in the North East …. one with some great colours and textures. The whole session was super casual …. just hanging out, laughing and snapping away. I love when a couple is so surprised by how good they’re looking on the back of my camera …. especially when they both insist that I’ll have to use tons of photoshop….lol. Such a great time with this wonderful couple and their wedding is just around the corner in May… yay!!

Last week it was Jemma and Chase …. and we happened to pick a day that the weather went from bad to amazing (typical Alberta). We had an indoor location picked out and by the time we were ready to head outdoors the sun was shinning and there was a beautiful layer of fresh snow out at elbow falls. Chase is very outdoorsy and Jemma is a little more urban so these 2 spots were a perfect mix.  It took a bit to loosen Chase up during photos ….. I’m still laughing thinking about some of the words we had to say to make him smile and crack up! Such a fun day and I love that even though there was so much Snow…. Jemma still busted out some super high heels. Can’t wait for the wedding in September!! :)
